Ford is most certainly synonymous with trucks, but the F-650 Super Duty is one you may not have known existed. It’s essentially a medium-duty commercial truck first introduced in 2000 and designed for towing, heavy hauling, and use in construction. Ford manufactures the F-650 in Mexico through a joint venture with Navistar International named Blue Diamond Truck Company LLC. In other words, they’re built in a Navistar factory with an International truck frame, using Ford cabs and non-International engines (Caterpillar and Cummins diesels; Ford gasoline). Read more for an up-close look at this monstrous vehicle.
Beginning in the 2010 model year, only one diesel engine option was available due to Caterpillar’s current absence in the OTR (off-the-road) market. The standard 6.8L V10 Ford Modular engine generates 362 hp and 457 lb·ft, mated to a 6R140 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the one you see in Doug Demuro’s video was made by Super Trucks and sports a 6.7-liter PowerStroke V8 producing 330 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque.
