FuelTech’s twin-turbocharged C8 Chevrolet Corvette managed to complete the quarter mile in just 8.973-seconds at 160.9 miles per hour at the Orland Speed World Dragway. From the factory, it comes equipped with a 5.5L LT6 flat-pane V8 engine making 495 horsepower, but this vehicle has been fitted with Garrett G35-900 turbochargers mounted topside to boost output to an eye watering 1350 wheel horsepower. The engine has been reinforced with forged pistons, Wiseco BoostLine connecting rods, Turbosmart electronic wastegates, and a custom-fabricated intake manifold housing a set of injectors that spray methanol in the intake. For added safety, the vehicle uses two WB-O2 Nanometers to monitor the air/fuel ratio through Bosch LSU 4.2 sensors in the exhaust system, while two FuelTech EGT-4 kits keep an eye on the cylinder exhaust gas temperature individually so things do not overheat in the engine.
