Awesome Games Done Quick 2024 featured Peanut Butter, the world’s first speedrunning dog. To raise money for various charities, Peanut Butter chose to play the classic NES game Gyromite, a puzzle-action game that was released in 1985 and the first of two titles that took advantage of Nintendo’s R.O.B. accessory.
Instead of R.O.B., Peanut Butter used a custom controller. You play as scientist Professor Hector as he explores his laboratory in order to collect and defuse the dynamite which is scattered across his lab. Players have around eight minutes to use R.O.B., or the custom controller in this case, to move “Gyros” around in the real world. Peanut Butte, alongside his owner JSR, competed in category ‘Game B – Dog Assistance’, and had around 30 minutes to make it through the game.
