This geeky gamer managed to cram an entire level – granted its a custom stage – into a hand drawn flipbook. For those who don’t already know, the first flip book appeared in September, 1868, when it was patented by John Barnes Linnett under the name kineograph (“moving picture”)
With that said, it wasn’t until the late 19th to early 20th century did flipbooks become a form of entertainment, especially as a novelty item or toy for children. They were often sold at fairs, included in cigarette packs as premiums, or distributed as promotional items. Unfortunately, with the advent of film and television in the 20th century, this form of entertainment gradually faded as a mainstream medium.
