A Google Android Auto update may be coming soon, and it’s set to add split-screen functionality that makes navigation even clearer. That’s right, the app is capable of automatically adapting to any screen size or shape with this new design, showing only the tiles that matter most. It appears to support up to three apps simultaneously regardless of screen size.
Google Maps will of course take up most of the screen since it has the directions that drivers need to see, while entertainment / messaging / etc. tiles will auto-arrange next to the navigation. Other updated features include YouTube / streaming media support when parked and the ability for Google Assistant to offer contextual suggestions, whether it be replies to messages or music recommendations. Unfortunately (or fortunately), there’s still no word yet on games, but there’s always this Nintendo Switch running Android.
