Google may have accidentally given us a preview of their upcoming Pixel 7 Series smartphone, thanks to the the sketches uncovered in a patent with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for a ‘display configuration for mobile computing devices’, published on December 16, 2021. Apparently, the front will boast a larger screen area without actually increasing the handset’s dimensions. Read more for the patent sketches and additional information.
To achieve a full screen experience, Google needs to conceal some major hardware components, like the selfie camera. This means the latter will most likely be an under-display camera, similar to the ones fond in Xiaomi and Oppo handsets. More specifically, one or more of the front-facing cameras are hidden beneath the OLED display, along with a light sensor and possible flash.
