Unfortunately, you don’t get to play against a live opponent, but rather an AI-controlled robot. You always get the first serve, and after that, just move left to right to successfully hit the ball. On the desktop version, simply use the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard to move. Once you miss a shot, the game ends and shows a score, which is the number of returns you deliver. The mobile version requires you to tap on the left or right of the screen to move the player.
