Coming this summer is the all-new Google x Taito Space Invaders: World Defense game, which is powered by ARCore to seamlessly blend the real and digital worlds into one. Even after 45-years, the aliens from another dimension are still trying to invade Earth, and as one of the top pilots, you must use your spaceship’s advanced technology to defend the planet, but in augmented reality.
ARCore and Google’s Geospatial Creator are used together to generate real-world playground in AR as well as 3D. The original game is a fixed shooter in which you move a laser cannon horizontally across the bottom of the screen and fire at aliens overhead. One thing that has not yet been confirmed is the ‘mystery ship’ that occasionally moved across the top of the screen and earned you bonus points if destroyed.
