To celebrate the launch of Halo Infinite, the team at Hacksmith Industries unveiled their most powerful energy weapon yet, a real-life MA5. It consists of thirteen electromagnetic coils that are used to accelerate the projectile through the barrel, a series of controllers to sequence everything, redesigned switches, smaller batteries, and a custom magazine, all encased in an aluminum chassis.
If you’re not familiar with railguns, it’s basically a device that utilizes electromagnetic force to launch high velocity projectiles. These projectile typically do not contain explosives, but instead use the projectile’s high speed, mass, and kinetic energy to inflict damage. Their main advantage over conventional weapons is the fact that their destructive force could be much greater than conventionally lunched projectiles of the same size due to the high velocity of a railgun-launched projectile.
