There are smart gadgets, smartphones, and soon, smart tires, starting with Hankook’s futuristic-looking Hexonic. Designed for autonomous cars of the near future, it sports a tread design that is sectioned into multiple hexagonal modules that can split apart to create water passages. Hankook’s Hexonic also come equipped with seven sensors that reacts to road conditions in real time, which means it analyzes numerous factors like temperature, road surface, and grip so it can automatically adapt to provide the smoothest ride possible. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on if this will ever make it into production, but we can assume that they’ll be far more pricey than even the most luxurious of wheels.
