You may have seen or heard about the ICON A5 before, but the first production model has been delivered, and the video shows off some of its capabilities. This amphibious light-sport aircraft is designed to be “predictable and easy-to-fly” and has retractable landing gear for takeoff / landing on water. To keep things light, it sports a carbon fiber airframe, with power coming from a 100-horsepower, Rotax 912 ULS engine (runs on both auto and aviation gas), good for 120mph in the air. Folding wings allow it to be stored at home and towed on the highway with a trailer. Buyers will also get a propeller guard, wing angle of attack indicator as well as an integreated parachute that helps the entire aircraft come land a bit easier in an emergency.
