IKEA Japan wants to go beyond just DIY furniture, and that’s why the company is jumping into the real estate market in a tiny way. They are offering 107-square-foot loft apartments in Shinjuku, Tokyo for less than $1 USD per month. This isn’t a bathroom-sized room either, but rather a fully-furnished mini living space, complete with a sleeping area, kitchenette as well as a bathroom. Read more for a video tour, additional pictures and information.
At just $0.86 USD per month, this split-level apartment has a loft-style area that can be accessed with a stepladder, while the first floor is where you find the entrance, kitchenette, bathroom, and even a small washing machine. To promote their “Tiny Homes” campaign, IKEA Japan employed its famous blue shark, Blahaj. If you’re in Tokyo, just head on over to the “Blahaj real estate offices” between November 11-30 at IKEA Japan’s Shinjuku store or from December 1-3 at their Shibuya location.
