Here’s a first look inside the restored Notre Dame Cathedral, which is set to reopen to the public on December 8 at 6:30 pm local time. Visitors will be able to see the crown of thorns, a sacred relic for, installed at the heart of a new 13-foot-tall reliquary, designed in cedar wood.
Some of the changes you might notice is a completely redesigned visitor route, new liturgical furniture (baptistery, altar, ambo, tabernacle, cathedra) designed in bronze by the fonderie d’art Barthélémy Art in the Drôme, and sacred vases finished in gold by l’Atelier d’orfèvrerie Marischael. We can’t forget about the 1,500 new chairs made of solid oak from Sologne either.
