Dyson’s Supersonic hair dryer has a small motor at the handle rather than the end of the head, which means air is brought in through a filter at the bottom and expelled through thin vents that surround the circular head. Inventor Joel Gomes, also known as Integza, wanted to see if he could turn this hair dryer into a functional jet engine and succeeded.
Turning the Supersonic hair dryer into a jet engine required 3D printing a metal case for all of the components before being able to inject fuel into its combustion chamber. Let’s just say that the experiment was a success and gets hot enough to completely obliterate a tomato. One caveat: it won’t be able to protect your hair from extreme heat damage.
