Sure, a touchscreen Macbook may be in the works, but Fredrico of Mac Stories has created his own version, and it’s called MacPad. The original goal was to just build a keyboard and mouse combo for the Apple Vision Pro.
What ended up happening was Fredrico removing the screen on a 13-inch M2 MacBook Air to make it a headless system and then finding a way to attach his iPad Pro. Thanks to Apple’s Sidecar feature, he was able to use the iPad as a second display, or primary in this case, for the MacBook. Attaching the tablet onto the laptop required three magnetic base mounts on the bottom of the MacBook and then crafting a custom magnetic cover for the iPad.

Additionally, the setup I created will immediately scale to new iPad Pros as soon as they’re released: I’ll just need to buy another smart cover I can mod. And thanks to the MacPad, I’ll have an OLED MacBook months (years?) before those products are released. OLED is going to be a glorious addition to my MacPad setup,” said Fredrico.
