Contactless iPhone Tap-to-Pay is being tested by employees at Apple Park. This feature enables iPhone users to securely accept Apple Pay, contactless credit / debit cards, and other digital wallets through using just a simple tap. App developers are currently integrating this into their iOS apps to offer as a payment option for business customers.
The Apple Park Visitor Center is one of the only apple retail stores in the US to support contactless pay straight from an iPhone. Awesome to see in person! pic.twitter.com/GiFDiL56OO

Tap-to-Pay was initially added in iOS 15.4, allowing developers to prepare for its wide release, which is expected to come when iOS 16 is released later this year. How does it work? During checkout, a merchant is only required to prompt the customer to hold their iPhone or Apple Watch to pay with Apple Pay, their contactless credit/ debit card, or other digital wallet by holding it near the merchant’s iPhone. The payment will then be securely processed using NFC technology. In the near future, we expect digital fiber woven into fabrics to also have this feature.
