If the Red Bull RB18 racing simulator just isn’t exciting enough for you, check out pilot Luke Czepiela’s latest stunt where he successfully lands a plane on the Burj Al Arab’s helipad 696-feet in the air. This modified light aircraft was brought to a complete stop in just 68-feet on a platform measuring 89-feet wide.

Unlike at an airport, this helipad lacked any external points of reference, which made it a major challenge to overcome and required countless hours of planning. Speaking of planning, Czepiela has been practicing the stunt since 2021 and required 650 test landings, including several in Dubai right beforehand. What does this daring Polish pilot do when he’s not landing on helipads? He is busy captaining Airbus A320 jumbo jets.

I did my best to fly in all types of meteorological conditions, so for sure every attempt was different. Our journey from the idea to its completion took a very intense two and a half years. When flying, there’s definitely no such thing as too much confidence,” said Czepiela.
