However, that is all about to change, thanks to “Like-a-Hug”, a strange jacket, developed by MIT student Melissa Chow. Ms Chow said the concept for the Like-A-Hug vest came during a casual conversation about long-distance relationships. “The concept of telepresence arose, and we toyed with the idea of receiving hugs via wireless technology,” she told the Daily Mail.
Sensors inside the jacket are triggered when your mobile phone sends a signal that a “like” has been received. These then inflate air pockets within the jacket, tightening the jacket around the wearer.
