This McDonald’s, located in Taupo, New Zealand, is located inside a decommissioned Douglas DC-3 plane, and it just might be the coolest location yet. This aircraft went out of service in 1984 and promptly became a promotional tool for Taupo’s Aeroplane Car Company.
When the car dealership’s land was purchased in 1990, it was then turned into a McDonald’s franchse, complete with the DC-3. The interior of the plane was stripped out and additional seating was added, while the original cockpit was retained, but placed behind a clear barrier to prevent customers from breaking something. It can be accessed through the restaurant’s garden area and is open between the hours of 9:00am to 4:30pm.
