Now that you’ve seen the world’s largest Nintendo DS, it’s time to check out the Nintendo DS Demo Kit, which has no buttons whatsoever, just a screen, or at first glance. This version of the console was designed to be used by retail stores in a special display, but what you don’t see is the real Nintendo DS hardware beneath the shell.
After opening up the Nintendo DS Demo Kit, Elliot Coll of The Retro Future discovered there was already a cartridge inside. However, this device was originally intended to distribute demos from a local wireless server, which means powering it on without the button-less shell doesn’t quite work. Surprisingly enough, a copy of New Super Mario Bros. did happen to run, as it is a functional, yet modified, Nintendo DS in the shell after all.
