There’s the Agfa ePhoto CL30, and then this Panasonic PV-SD4090 digital camera from 1999 that uses SuperDisk media to store photos. This device is capable of capturing 1,280 x 960 resolution JPEG images, while its time-lapse mode can be used to take an image once every, 1, 5, 10, 30 mins as well as 1, 6, 12, 24 hours.
Weighing in at a hefty 695g, the SD4090 features a 3x optical zoom, a 5.2 to 15.6mm (34 to 102mm equivalent) f2.8 to f4.7 zoom lens, along with a 2x digital zoom. Swing around back, and you’ll find a large, 112,000 pixel, 2.5″ TFT LCD display with adjustable back light brightness control, all powered by a rechargeable 7.2v lithium ion battery. Unlike its competitors, the SD4090 is able to use both 120MB LS-120 SuperDisk and 1.4MB High Density 3 1/2″ floppy disks for media storage. The biggest issue that lead to its demise was the $900 USD ($1,699 in 2024) price tag.
