A programmer, also known as GLASYS online, has found a new way to create art by using an electric piano. When this electric piano is paired with MIDI software, it can be used to create artworks like the Apple logo or Pac-Man eating power pellets and chasing a ghost. How does it work? Well, when a key on the piano is pressed, you get the standard note as well as a corresponding pixel to show up on the laptop to form the image.
The software used is called CUBASE, and initially, he only wanted to create game art, but eventually posting things online made him really want to explore the possibilities of MIDI art. Not all the pieces end up being musical masterpieces, so additional instruments such as percussion, are added in post production. The main reason being that the most important sections of each piece need to be playable with just two hands, making looping sounds and other effects, near impossible.
