Pink Lake Argentina Pollution
This bright pink lagoon in Argentina has not been digitally manipulated, and turned this bizarre color due to pollution. According to activists in this region, this phenomena is caused by sodium sulfite, an antibacterial product used in fish factories typically used to preserve prawns for export. Unfortunately, this color also comes with a foul smell that flows in with pollution from the Chubut river, which feeds the Corfo lagoon. Read more for the video and additional information.

Apparently, this pink color does not cause damage and should disappear on its own in a few days. If the fish waste was properly treated, this would not be an issue, and since the plants that process fish for export generate thousands of jobs for Chubut province, home to some 600,000 people, minimizing this activity is not a viable option.
