What could be cooler than a Windows 98 smartwatch? A portable Winamp player of course. Called Raspinamp, AudioWanderer’s creation features a Raspberry Pi 3B board and a 3.5″ TFT touchscreen display, all placed within a clear acrylic enclosure.
How does it work? After booting into Raspberry Pi OS, it automatically loads the open source QMMP audio player, which is currently compatible with themes designed for Winamp 2. For those who don’t know, Winamp’s previous owners Nullsoft, was sold to AOL back in 1999 for $80-million. The media player’s current owners, the Llama Group, actually launched a Winamp streaming service. That’s right, it even includes a feature called Fanzone to “unlock the relationship between artists and fans”.
- Wireless Bluetooth streaming
