Emily the Engineer wanted to really put her 3D printing skills to work. So, she decided to build a robot that can get a perfect score in Wii Sports Bowling. Those who’ve played the game know that the Wiimote is used to simulate the motions of real bowling, which makes the virtual game far more intuitive and immersive than just using a standard controller.
First, she had to 3D print something to secure the Wiimote in, as its front sensor cannot be covered up. Servos would then be used to swing the Wiimote, as it has a motion sensor that translates your movements directly into the game. What Emily discovered was that all the robot needed to do is quickly flick the controller rather than program some complex motion(s). We won’t ruin the entire build, but will say that things turned out better than expected.
