Robotic Hand Realistic Artificial Muscles
Simply grasping a random object is typically a mindless tasks for humans, but for robots, it requires both a sophisticated neural network and artificial muscles, or at least if you want it to look natural. However, Automaton Robotics has managed to build a robotic arm with strong, fast, power-dense, and highly efficient artificial muscles capable of lifting 15.6-pound dumbbells.

The artificial muscles in this robotic arm are not yet AI-powered, but rather operated using water, consuming 200W of peak power. The company says the number of artificial muscles in their robotic arm is just half of its human counterpart, as the srongest finger-bending muscle still missing. The fingers are able to move from left to right without the use of muscles.

The movement sequence was written and sent by simple commands to a hand. We wish to develop a platform for reinforcement learning purposes, prosthetic arms and ultimately a full humanoid robots to serve people for fun, as butlers, cleaners, chauffeurs, construction workers (also in space) and even achieve human immortallity by transplanting the brain into the machine,” said Automaton Robotics.
