Rocky Stoutenburg, better known as “RockyNoHands” online, just might be the world’s first professional gamer that plays games using his mouth alone, Fortnite included. This is accomplished with a tool known as the Quadstick controller, which basically consists of a joystick, four sip/puff pressure sensors and a lip position sensor that can be assigned to output to any game controller button or axis, or to any mouse movement, button or keyboard key.
Stoutenburg lost the use of his hands when was 19-years-old in a fall that broke his spinal cord and dislocated his thoracic vertebrae, which is the group of bones along the spine. The latter meant that he could no longer freely roll his shoulders, but that didn’t stop him from achieving his dreams of becoming a professional gamer. Despite his quadriplegia, the paralysis from the neck going down the spine, he’s an active Twitch streamer and has earned a few Guinness World Records along the way.
