It’s true, you can actually run Windows XP on a first-generation Apple TV, but there are some modifications that need to be made first. For those wondering why you need an Apple device from 2007 to run this operating system, it’s due to its 1GHz Intel Pentium M processor and 256MB of RAM.
With the hardware out of the way, DistroHopper39B is the programmer to thank for his Windows XP port to the original Apple TV using ReactOS. More specifically, there are enough drivers are working to get Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 to the desktop, but due to HAL issues, ReactOS is not usable yet. This means there is no PCI or USB functionality as of now. Want to try it out? Visit the Github page here.

The processor in there is pretty weird. Like a weird missing link between the pentium 3 and intel core. Half life software mode in a window rather than the broken fullscreen mode would’ve probably worked and maybe playable,” said one commenter.
