Samsung and Google Cloud announced their expanded partnership today, at Cloud Next ’25 in Las Vegas, bringing Google’s Gemini AI to Ballie, Samsung’s home AI companion robot. Samsung has confirmed that Ballie will hit the market this summer—specifically in the United States and Korea.
With Gemini’s smart mix of skills, Ballie can handle your voice, sounds, pictures from its camera, and info from sensors around your house. That lets it talk to you like a friend, get used to your daily habits, and give you custom ideas—like suggesting clothes based on the weather or your plans, or offering tips to fix your sleep setup if it sees you’re tossing and turning.

Ballie’s not just reactive—it anticipates your needs. It can roll around (it’s a spherical bot, about soccer-ball-sized) and manage smart home devices—like adjusting lights or thermostats—based on what’s happening. Imagine it greeting you at the door or fetching info from other connected gadgets to suggest actions, like turning on the coffee maker when you wake up.
With Gemini helping out, Ballie can now have “deep, engaging, and natural” conversations with you. It’s not clear if Samsung’s Bixby is still integrated, but Gemini’s the main star now, making talks more than just simple orders. Imagine tossing around ideas together or getting instant tips pulled from Google Search—like ways to feel more awake with exercise or tricks to sleep better.
A carryover from its CES 2020 debut, Ballie can also project video onto walls or surfaces. Pair that with Gemini’s smarts, and it could pull up recipes, workout videos, or even project a personalized daily briefing while you’re in the kitchen.
