Samsung Display recently showcased their next-generation panels at World Information Display Society (SID) 2021, including the “S-foldable,” which is essentially a bi-fold flexible OLED screen. Depending on the application, the 7.2-inch panel can fold twice, both inwards and outwards, thanks to two bi-fold hinges, enabling you to fold it both ways. The online exhibition runs from May 17 – 21.
The second display that Samsung teased was a 17-inch foldable OLED panel that doubles as a portable monitor when unfolded. When folded, it can be used as a standard tablet in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Last, but not least, a slideable OLED display that could one day be implemented into a variable size smartphone of sorts. In the fully expanded mode, you could load up several apps side-by-side for multitasking.
