Samsung Electronics recently had a patent approved by the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for a ‘method and apparatus for operating functions of electronic device having flexible display’, and from the sketches, it appears to be some type of smartphone with a wraparound display. This flexible panel offers both touchscreen and S Pen operation, making it great for entertainment as well as productivity.
From the sketches, we can see that the display wraps around the front, sides and back of the smartphone, while a large bezel is visible up top for the sensors as well as cameras. There is a traditional power button at the top since there is no room on the sides for physical buttons. This also means that the volume buttons are actually virtual keys, perfect as shoulder buttons when gaming when in landscape mode.
