The Samsung T9 portable SSD is the company’s first to boast the USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface, enabling maximum sequential read/write speeds of 2,000 megabytes-per-second (MB/s). This makes it twice as fast as its predecessor, the T7, allowing users to transfer a 4GB Full HD video in just two seconds.

Available in 1TB ($139.99), 2TB ($239.99) and 4TB ($439.99) capacities, the T9 is about the size of a credit card and sports a reverse carbon pattern design on the surface, giving the SSD rubber a fabric-like feel akin to a luxurious wallet. In case of large file transfer sessions, the drive comes equipped with Samsung’s Dynamic Thermal Guard to efficiently minimizes the performance drops that can be caused by overheating. Available starting today (Oct. 3) at most major online retailers.
