Here’s a fascinating look back at the Sharp Mobilon TriPad PV-6000, a bizarre laptop / tablet hybrid from 1998. This device also goes by another name, the Vadem Clio, running Windows CE H/PC Pro 3.0 (WinCE Core OS 2.11) as the operating system.



The Mobil TriPad is essentially a convertible tablet computer, first developed without the knowledge of Microsoft. However, after it was presented to Bill Gates and the CE team, it led to the definition of the Jupiter-class CE platform. Featuring a “SwingTop” pivoting arm that sports a 180-degree screen rotation, On a full charge, the 0.86-inch thick Mobilon TriPad could run for 12 hours.
