Softball Baseball Field Area 51 Google Maps
Located approximately 83-miles north-northwest of Las Vegas, the US Air Force’s highly secretive Area 51 base is one facility that only people with the right top secret clearance can visit, but anyone can view its baseball field. What most do not know is that it’s apparently been there since 1964, built during Project OXCART, the development and fielding of the A-12 spy plane.

It’s true, there were actual teams that played on this field, namely the 8-Ballers who were primarily OXCART project and support personnel. EG&G Special Projects as well as Nevada Test Site organizations also had teams and competed in a 1965 Slow-Pitch Play-Off Tournament. Fortunately, the Storm Area 51 event never happened, or else this baseball field may not be here today.

Doesn’t it look like Area 51 has a baseball field. It’s the Groom Lake Bears vs the Papoose Lake Lizards. Actually, at one point, it was more like the Area 51 8-Ballers against the Area 12 Mets, two real-life teams featuring employees from the facility who slugged it out during the Mercury Softball Association’s annual Slow-Pitch Playoff Tournament,” said one person commenting on the image.
