Sonic the Hedgehog Superfan Guinness World Record
Sonic the Hedgehog superfan Barry Evans has spent the past three decades collecting items of SEGA’s blue hedgehog and it finally paid off. His collection of 3,050 items has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the ‘largest collection of Sonic the Hedgehog memorabilia’.

Whether it be soft plush toys, action figures, or even arcade machines, you’ll find it in Barry’s collection. There are so many items that he uses a 1,650-square-foot room next to his house to hold all of them, all of which have been individually counted and catalogued. What is the most unusual item he owns? A mold that was used to create plastic toys given out at Burger King restaurants in the UK. One item Barry doesn’t have is this Analog Devices ADSP-2181 chip with a hidden Sonic.

Sonic The Hedgehog has been my passion for 30 years. To get it was no easy feat, it was a lot of work. It took three weeks of 8-10 hour days to catalogue. He was cool, he’s edgy, he had that wow-ness factor… the hedgehog with attitude! Faster than Mario… SEGA Genesis does what Nintendon’t,” said Barry.
