With the PlayStation 5 release around 1-year away, it’s no surprise that more leaks are happening, and this multi-functional game controller could be one of them. Sony Interactive Entertainment filed a patent for an ‘Information output system and method’ with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) on July 24, 2019 and it was just published on November 28, 2019. The sketches show a rectangular-shaped portable control device with all of the basic elements of a game controller, including a D-pad, four control buttons and two triggers. An integrated LCD display in the middle could have touchscreen functionality, while a switch on the bottom serves as the power button. Will this come bundled with the PS5, or be just another accessory at launch? We’ll keep you posted as more information is released.
