Long before Star Fox 64, there was Eclipse, but now, a native PC port is in the works and already in beta. The project, codenamed Titania, is being headed by Sonic Dreamcaster and Samplywx.
As you can see, there are still quite a few graphical glitches and multiplayer still has a long way to go, as it crashes upon launching in the beta. Now the biggest issue would be releasing the finished version to the public without immediately getting a cease and desist order from Nintendo. One possible solution would be to just keep it a demo and only distributed through multiple Discord channels.
