Starship, a native PC port of Star Fox 64 by HarbourMasters, has been released, and it looks amazing for a game that was released more than 27-years-ago. This version of the game does not include any graphical assets, which means you’ll need the USA 1.1 Rev A version ROM to actually play it.
This port retains the 3D rail shooter gameplay in which the player controls one of the vehicles piloted by Fox McCloud, and most of it takes place in “Corridor Mode”. The latter refers to Fox’s starship on a rail-like path traveling straight forward through the environment. In this mode, the player’s vehicle can be maneuvered around the screen to dodge obstacles and can also perform a somersault to get behind enemies or dodge projectiles. Download it here now.
