Stratolaunch Roc Largest Flying Aircraft Hypersonic Talon-A Flight
Finally, Stratolaunch’s Roc, the world’s largest flying aircraft, has successfully completed a flight with the hypersonic Talon-A vehicle. The 5 hour and 6 minute flight over the Mojave Desert enabled the company to use the loads captured in flight to validate aerodynamic predictions, along with ensuring the release mechanism will function as designed.

Over the next few months, Stratolaunch is expected to complete a series of captive test flights, eventually resulting in a separation test of the Talon-A vehicle over the Pacific Ocean in late 2022. The team is also progressing on testing its first hypersonic flight test vehicle, TA-1 and on the fabrication of the first and second fully reusable hypersonic vehicles, TA-2 and TA-3.

Testing and production are accelerating as we push forward to meet our commitment of providing hypersonic flight test service to our customers next year. Our team will continue accomplishing more complex test milestones as we progress to our first hypersonic flight,” said Dr. Zachary Krevor, Stratolaunch Chief Executive Officer and President.
