Tesla Model S Plaid 166MPH Top Speed Run Autobahn
Most know that the Tesla Model S Plaid has a tri-motor setup (1 in front axle + 2 in rear axles) that produces a combined 1,020 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque, but what does that translate to on the road? Well, AutoTopNL wanted to find out, so they took it to the only non-track road that allows you to legally drive above 150MPH, the unrestricted section of Germany’s Autobahn.

Elon Musk said that the Tesla Model S Plaid will eventually have a top speed of 200 mph with a software update, but that hasn’t happened yet, so what we’re looking at is an electronically limited 166 mph. It took AutoTopNL three attempts to achieve 166 mph, and along the way managed to accelerate from just over 35mph to 159mph in a mere 12-seconds. This isn’t a surprise since it accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 1.99-seconds, which is hypercar territory. You can get all this from an electric sedan priced from $114,990 USD in the states.
