Thumpy Headphones
Dyson OnTrac may have 55-hour battery life, but these bizarre Thumpy headphones by Philip at Pud’s Small Batch Headphones come equipped with 60Hz Helmholtz resonators to pump up low frequencies. Helmholtz resonators are primarily used to dampen or trap noises, and they can be seen here as protruding spheres.

These spheres basically force air into the cavity and absorb sound while vibrating at a specific frequency to produce a specific sound, or in this case, a 60Hz bass note. These resonators can also be found in violins, violas, sitar, the modern guitar, and more stringed instruments. We don’t see Thumpy on Pud’s website right now, but his creations occasionally go into small batch production runs (20-50 units).
