Long before the Solus GT, there was the turbocharged M81 McLaren Mustang, and this one could be yours for the right price. Originally, a 250 vehicle production run was planned, but only 10 were actually built due to the high $25,000 USD ($96,991 today) price tag in 1980.
Power comes from a McLaren tuned turbocharged 2.3L inline 4-cylinder engine generating 175 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Each vehicle comes serially numbered with a brass dash plaque, and the P at the end of this one indicates prototype. Inside, there are Recaro racing seats, a Racemark steering wheel, Stewart-Warner instrument gauges, and a bolt-in roll bar. This 556-mile gem is heading to the Mecum Indy 2023 (May 12-20) auction and expected to fetch up to $100,000 USD.
