Bulletproof glass is as tough as it sounds, but can it stop a 979 lb (444 kg) wrecking ball dropped from an extreme height? Before we answer that question, bullet-resistant glass is a very strong and optically transparent material resistant to penetration by projectiles, typically made from a combination of two or more types of glass. The a soft layer exists to make it more elastic, allowing it to flex instead of shatter. Read more to see how multiple sheets of this material fared against the wrecking ball.
While there may be several layers of laminated glass, the weak point in this case is the frame holding them. It’s true that the more layers there are, the more protection the glass offers, but just make sure they are secured properly, or else the result may end up looking like what happened in this video. One thing to note is that the plastic in laminate designs also offer resistance to impact from physical assault from blunt and sharp objects.
