Going hands on with the Xtra Muse reveals that it’s a near exact copy of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Both camera gimbals fold the same way, track faces across a room without issue and warm up in the same spots after a quick recording session; even the screen click is the same.
FCC filings give us a closer look with side by side photos of the internals and it’s the same circuit boards, chips as well as layouts for both cameras. The components line up with the solder points but the backgrounds are blue for one and white for the other. Xtra removed the nameplates before submission but one user manual made it through with the telltale “DJI” engraved in fine print. The program tells the same story; a security consultant looked at the Muse app and found thousands of lines of code taken verbatim from DJI’s program. They replaced “DJI” with “Xtra” in a few places but left out 7,552 references to DJI’s LightCut editing tool and a brief mention of their e-bike system.

Tariffs hit DJI hard after they released the Osmo Pocket 3 for $519 in October 2023. Price increases to $800 by spring 2025 killed sales in a market where pocketable gimbals are still popular. You get the same 1 inch sensor for low light 4K recording, three axis stabilization and simple face tracking. For quiet moments, a one tap panorama sweeps 180 degrees, while vertical mode sends footage directly to social media feeds. The Muse measures 5.5 inches long, fits in a pocket easier than most phones and comes with a wrist strap as well as a carrying pouch for extra security.
