We may never see the Kia Pod, but the 2024 Kia EV9 has now been officially rated at an EPA-estimated 304 miles of All-Electric Range (AER) in Light Long Range rear-wheel drive and 280 miles in all-wheel drive (Wind and Land). The base Light model comes equipped with a 76.1-kWh battery battery that powers a rear-mounted electric motor making 215 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
All trims include four standard drive modes at launch – Eco, Normal, Sport, and My Mode – while AWD models add a Snow mode. The electric SUV’s standard 800V electrical architecture allows for ultrafast charging on high-speed DC chargers, designed to go from a 10 to 80 percent state of charge in under 25 minutes. It has a maximum DC charging speed of up to 236kW, enabling it to facilitate quick charging with compatible DC chargers. Pricing starts at $54,900 USD for the EV9 Light RWD and the GT-Line e-AWD tops out at $73,900, with deliveries set to begin later this year in the US.
