The 2027 Toyota Highlander employs purely electric motors, eliminating gas and hybrids, marking the company’s first three-row battery electric vehicle in the US. This is a considerable shift from the gas and hybrid models, which now paves the way for Toyota to develop a midsize SUV with quick response, quiet operation, and enough capacity for a family.
There are only two trim levels: XLE and Limited. The XLE model is available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, whereas the Limited model only has all-wheel drive. The battery options include the 77.0kwh pack and the larger 95.8kwh pack. The lesser capacity battery combined with a single motor in the FWD type produces 221 horsepower and 198 pound-feet of torque. This would give you an estimated 287 miles per charge. The AWD model would have a dual motor option with the 77.0kwh pack and an estimated range of 270 miles per charge, thanks to the 338 horsepower and 323 pound-feet of torque. The 320 miles would be available with the 95.8 kwh pack on the AWD model and Limited model.

Charging the car will be as simple thanks to the North American Charging Standard connector, which allows you to connect to hundreds of rapid charging stations. Under perfect conditions, a 10 to 80 percent DC fast charge can be completed in as little as 30 minutes. Furthermore, preconditioning the battery is equally crucial as maintaining the proper temperature. However, you can turn this on manually or through the navigator as you approach the charging station. Fortunately, as your automobile drives along a network of “Plug and Charge” roads, you will not meet any problems. AC charging at levels 1 and 2 is normal, as is a dual-voltage charging connector.
Toyota has kept the revised dimensions of the vehicle’s appearance in mind to give it a better presence and efficiency. It is a little shorter than the previous one by a fraction of an inch. This one stands 67.3 inches tall. It is a little wider by being 78.3 inches. Most importantly, it has a longer wheelbase by 120.1 inches. Toyota has given it broad fenders, full-width LED daytime running lights, flush electronic door handles, and a pretty beautiful swept-back front end. It gives a super modern appearance to the vehicle. As if all this was not enough, Toyota has given it a rear spoiler as well as a black window trim to give it a better appearance. It is up to the owner to choose from any of the one-tone colors like Spellbound or opt for two-tone in black on the roof.

Inside the cabin, there is a configuration focused solely on the driver. The dashboard features a large 14-inch touchscreen as its centerpiece, as well as a 12.3-inch digital cluster in the front that displays all of the vital information. There’s also a fancy ambiance lighting system with 64 various colors to select from, allowing you to customize the cabin to fit your mood. The front seats are heated as standard, while the second row is vented and heated in higher models, with SofTex-trimmed seats covering all three rows. There are several USB-C ports throughout the interior, as well as a pair of wireless charging trays up front, to keep all of your devices charged. If you want the sun streaming in, a giant panoramic glass roof lets you have as much natural light as you like, and it’s actually the largest one Toyota has ever fitted to a car. The second row seats fold away with a single touch, and the third row folds flat to provide plenty of storage space: 45.6 cubic feet behind the second row, or 15.9 with all seats up. On select AWD XLE versions, you can even fit seven people in if you option a bench in the second row.

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is standard fare, and it includes numerous safety features such as pre-crash braking with pedestrian recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and so on. Standard features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and parking assist with automatic braking, but you can upgrade to a panoramic view monitor, advanced park assist, and even traffic jam help.

Toyota’s Audio Multimedia system powers infotainment, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 5G connectivity, cloud mapping, and an inbuilt voice assistant. Oh, and there’s a built-in drive recorder that catches 20-second footage of your adventures—which is a fun little extra touch.

Sales begin in the later part of 2026 or early 2027, but price has yet to be revealed, though they want you to know that this is a car able to compete with other three-row electric SUVs on the market. This is all about combining the best of classic family car functionality with the benefits of all-electric power.
