NASA’s Mars Chopper concept might one day replace the decommissioned Ingenuity helicopter. This aircraft would would be about the size of an SUV, with six rotors, and each sporting six blades for propulsion.
The Mars Chopper could be used to transport science payloads as large as 11 pounds distances of up to 1.9 miles each Martian day (sol). Scientists could use the aircraft to study large areas of terrain in detail and much faster than a rover, including areas where the rolling vehicles cannot safely travel.
