Engineers a Honda’s North American Auto Development Center (ADC) are set to take an Acura NSX Type S on an eight-day, 3200-mile road trip road rally, but with the rear half of an NSX test mule turned trailer. The latter will haul spare tires, tools and fluids to each track event the Type S participates in between May 6-13.

Justyn Bobinski and Chad Gilsinger will drive the Thermal Orange Pearl Acura NSX Type S in the Sports & Grand Touring, Small Bore, and Stock GT class over $50,000 events. This unmodified supercar features lightweight HRE wheels wrapped in Falken high-performance tires and the same livery as the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach pace cars. Now the trailer has been equipped with H&R springs and rolls on lightweight HRE wheels wrapped in Falken high-performance tires.

When we saw the opportunity to build a trailer out of an Acura NSX supercar we thought, ‘Why not?’. There was no hesitation from the passionate associates at the Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC), ADC fabrication or the rest of our Honda of America Racing Team (HART) in supporting this unconventional idea,” said Justyn Bobinski, Vehicle Dynamics Engineer at Honda’s North American Auto Development Center (ADC).
