Around 4-years-ago, it was rumored that Apple partnered with Volkswagen to develop their electric car, but those were quickly dispersed. To date, the company is known to have 66 road-registered driverless cars, with 111 drivers registered to operate those cars. So, it would make sense for them to be working on an autonomous ride sharing vehicle that does not require human input.

The latest rumor from 2021 is that Apple and Hyundai were in early discussions to produce self-driving electric cars, but shortly after, Apple hired Porsche VP of Chassis Development, Dr. Manfred Harrer. Nothing has been officially confirmed, although we do know that Apple is working in Korea to build up its supply chain, while still shopping around for LIDAR navigation sensor suppliers for its project.
