Just like Tesla vehicles, the BMW i5 also has its own form of surveillance, called the Anti-Theft Recorder. Put simply, when your BMW triggers an alarm, the cameras installed in the vehicle automatically create images of its surroundings and interior.
Once triggered, owners will automatically be notified of the alarm via a push notification. You can then download, view or forward the video in the My BMW App. For those who already own a BMW i5 or know someone who does, it must be turned on by going to “Drive Recorder” > “Settings” > “Theft” in the vehicle and have a recording duration set. Next, you must set “Activated” in the My BMW App under “Settings” > “Notifications” > “Allow push notifications” to get the alerts in real-time on a mobile device.
